About

I’m a Ph.D. student in history at Södertörn University, affiliated to the Centre for Baltic and East European Studies and to the School of Gender, Culture and History.

My actual main research interest is the contemporary history of Central and East European countries, with a strong focus on Romanian national-communism and all concepts and ideas that floats around this theme (i.e., political history, historiography, nationalism and ethnicity, Stalinism, communism, etc.). More generally, my interests lays in the fields of contemporary history, history of ideas, history of historiography, intellectual history, history of nationalism, history of socialism. I’m particularly interested in Michel Foucault’s analysis of modern world.

The working title of my Ph.D. dissertation is "Nationalist historiographies in communist and post-communist Eastern Europe: historians, institutions, products. The Romanian case compared with others".

I truly believe in the free sharing of knowledge, so I will upload here my writings. I also believe that networking is the main source of knowledge production, so feel free to get in touch with me!

A brief CV:

I was born in Modena (Italy) in 1982. I graduated in European Languages and Culture (BA) at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2007, and I graduated magna cum laude in Historical Studies (MA) at the same University in 2010, with a thesis on Nationalism and Historiography during the Ceausescu's Era.

During the period 2007-2011 I collaborated with the Modena History Institute, publishing articles, guiding history tours of the city and taking part to different projects.

In 2010-2011 I wrote a book about the history of the Italian disabled veterans, whose research and publishing has been financed by the Italian National Disabled Ex-Servicemen Association (Associazione Nazionale fra Mutilati ed Invalidi di Guerra) and the Modena Savings Bank Foundation (Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena).

Since September 2011 I'm a Ph.D. student in History at Södertörn University.

Current and future projects:

I’m actually writing some articles and books’ reviews for academic and non-academic  journals and reviews, mainly focusing on my Ph.D. project’s theme but also on various themes of contemporary history.

In the future I will write the script for a documentary on the Italian National Disabled Ex-Servicemen Association.
